Why Me

There are mornings when I wake up and wonder “why me?” My body aches with exhaustion, and I have not even gotten up.

There are those other morning when I wake up and wonder “why me?” The world dances with rainbows and lollipops and I am unable to stop smiling.

I am the same person, but something stirs in my heart. It was seeded in my mind through the words that I chose to hear or speak. It grew to a place where it dominated even my physical being.

Same person, different mindset.

This morning started out with the whining “why me.” It is cold, the sun comes up later and I did NOT want to get out of bed. My mind and my body argued about the right choice to make. I finally did choose to get up and going and the day quickly swayed over to the lollipops and rainbows.

I spent my first hour talking with God and watching the snow fall through the back windows. It was a peaceful and calming picture that reminded me to stay focused on my Father despite all of the craziness going on around me.

The day still has a lot of chaos in store, but I am now settled in the understanding of who holds my day. Having that one bit of knowledge can make a rainbow from even the stormiest day.

Oh, yes, I can relate to this very well! I am not really a morning person, so I have to struggle to be the grateful person right when I wake up. Saying a prayer of thanks first thing after I wake definitely helps!

Hey Sarah – I have found that the more often I get up and spend time in prayer the more natural it becomes. There are days when I am already praying before my feet hit the floor!
